Saudi Aramco has completed a deal to take a 49% stake in Saudi AI company Humain. The state oil company will contribute about SAR 9.9 billion ($2.6 billion) in cash during 2026, along with AI, computing and digital assets. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which founded Humain in May 2025, will keep a 51% stake, according to the companies.

The transaction brings PIF and Aramco’s AI investments and expertise together under Humain. The company is building data centers, cloud services, AI models and business applications. Aramco says it expects to use Humain’s infrastructure to develop AI applications for its industrial operations, while also creating opportunities to sell AI services and earn revenue from its digital assets.

## Humain’s expansion plans

Humain plans to deploy 3 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030, aiming to meet demand in Saudi Arabia and other markets. Its work includes the Arabic-language model ALLaM. The company’s broader plan covers data centers, high-performance computing and cloud platforms, models, and AI solutions for businesses and public agencies.

There are signs that some of its infrastructure is already serving customers. The Decoder reports that AMD said in late August that systems built with Humain and Cisco were serving customers inside and outside Saudi Arabia. The new ownership deal is intended to help Humain scale those operations, though the companies have not provided a schedule for how quickly the planned capacity will come online.

## Aramco’s wider AI push

For Aramco, the investment ties its AI ambitions to a company focused on selling computing capacity and AI products beyond the energy sector. Aramco says it has generated $11.3 billion in “Technology Realized Value” since 2023, with a significant portion coming from AI. That figure is the company’s own measure; it does not specify the AI portion or independently break down the value.

Humain’s buildout also faces security concerns. The Decoder reports that chief executive Tareq Amin told Semafor in September that the company was strengthening protection for its data centers amid the Iran war. Humain had not seen a drop in demand, according to that account. Aramco’s transaction announcement presents the partnership as a way to support regional and global growth, but gives no revised construction timetable or details about how the security work could affect the project.

For Saudi businesses and public agencies, Humain’s planned 3 gigawatts of capacity could mean more locally available computing for AI projects, while Aramco says it plans to apply the technology in its own operations. The deal confirms the ownership and investment, but the companies have not said when the planned capacity will be ready or how much will be available to outside customers.
