Amazon announced it bought Fauna Robotics, the maker of the 3.5‑foot humanoid Sprout, in March 2026. The move adds a proven robot platform to a new Personal Robotics Group that includes many engineers from Amazon’s Lab126 lab. The company says the acquisition will help close the gap between lab prototypes and robots that can live in everyday spaces like living rooms and lobbies. Amazon has already posted job ads for engineers and designers to work on “delightful” home robots built on Fauna’s technology.
Why it matters
If Amazon succeeds, customers could see a more capable, affordable home robot from a major retailer within the next few years.
