Amazon announced a new model for its Polly Generative engine. The upgrade brings 14 new voices across nine locales and adds Hindi and Finnish as supported languages. The voices sound more natural and handle numbers, email addresses and street addresses more reliably. Existing SSML tags still work, and the low‑latency streaming API remains for real‑time apps. The new voices are now generally available in ten AWS regions, including GovCloud.

Why it matters

Developers can build more realistic voice bots for contact centers and e‑learning without extra fine‑tuning.
