AWS announced the public beta of TorchNeuron, a native PyTorch backend for its Trainium AI chips. The open‑source library lets developers run PyTorch code on Trainium simply by adding .to('neuron'). It works with standard PyTorch features like eager execution and torch.compile. TorchNeuron is available for EC2 Trainium2 and Trainium3 instances via a GitHub repo.
Why it matters
Researchers can now train PyTorch models on AWS’s high‑performance Trainium chips without rewriting code, lowering cost and effort.
