The decomp.dev community, which tracks game decompilation projects, is shutting down its public index and leaderboard. The site’s creator, known as @encounter, says AI tools have made it too easy to inflate progress percentages. Forks are using AI to finish others’ work and rush PC ports, often with low quality. Because banning every AI‑assisted project is hard, @encounter decided the leaderboard is doing more harm than good.
Why it matters
Hobbyist decompilers will lose a shared ranking system, making it harder to gauge genuine progress on reverse‑engineered games.
