DeepSeek announced that its open‑source AI toolkits now run on Huawei’s Ascend chips. The update adds native support for TileLang, DeepGEMM, DeepEP, TileKernels, FlashMLA and DeepSelect. Huawei supplies the hardware and low‑level software stack, while DeepSeek provides the models and workload engineering. Only TileLang is fully usable now; the other repos need Huawei’s CANN 9.2.0 and a C++20 compiler that are not yet released.
Why it matters
Chinese AI developers can now run DeepSeek’s models on Huawei hardware, narrowing the software‑hardware gap in China’s AI ecosystem.
