The European Commission met its Scientific Panel on AI on 2026‑10‑09. The panel, made up of 60 independent experts, is reviewing recent loss‑of‑control incidents and will give the Commission recommendations on frontier AI safety. Executive Vice‑President Henna Virkkunen said the EU’s AI law is the first to address systemic risk and that scientific input is needed to keep AI safe.
