Meta deletes AI‑training clause from its business terms

Meta said it removed the language that seemed to allow it to scrape any business‑account website for AI training.

Meta updated its commercial terms to say it could use any content from a business account’s domains for AI research. Legal experts said that could let Meta scrape publishers’ sites to train its models. After pushback, Meta said the clause only applied to ads and business products, and it has now been removed, according to The Verge.

Why it matters

Publishers with Meta business accounts no longer face the risk that their site content could be harvested for Meta’s AI training without separate permission.
