Nexus Mods requires AI disclosure for new uploads

The PC‑gaming mod site will force creators to label AI‑generated or AI‑assisted mods and explain how AI was used.

NoteBy Published by Oossa: 1 min read

Nexus Mods announced that all new mods must include a declaration of whether AI was used. Mods tagged as “AI‑assisted” must also provide a public note on how the AI contributed. The site will make AI tags more visible and will not ban AI‑created mods, but it will not allow its mods to be used for training AI models. Existing mods have a 60‑day window to add the required information, ending on Jan 2 2027.

Why it matters

Mod users will know when AI was used, helping them judge originality and potential copyright issues.
