OpenAI adds lock feature to ChatGPT chats

ChatGPT users can now protect individual conversations with a PIN, Face ID or Touch ID, rolling out across all plans except Healthcare.

OpenAI announced that ChatGPT now lets users lock specific chats. A four‑digit PIN, Face ID or Touch ID can secure the conversation. Locked chats are stored in a separate section and can be opened again later. The feature works on Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, but not on the Healthcare version. It begins rolling out on Tuesday.

Why it matters

It lets regular users keep personal or surprise‑planning messages private when they hand their device to others.
