Anthropic is expanding its AI for Science program, providing free Claude credits through 20 scientific foundations, research institutions and research projects. The partners include the US National Science Foundation, the Francis Crick Institute and the FlyWire neuroscience project.

The credits are intended to help researchers use Claude in their work. Anthropic says supported teams are using it to generate hypotheses, design experiments and analyze data. Some partnerships aim to create public resources, including open datasets, software and standards; many collaborations are still in early stages.

Why it matters

Researchers working through the named partners may gain access to Claude credits, but Anthropic has not specified the amount of credits or which individual researchers will receive them.
