Apple is letting developers connect their apps to Siri AI, so the assistant can use app information and carry out actions in response to natural-language requests. The feature arrived November 3, 2026, in a Developer Preview for iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas. Apple says the preview gives developers early access before the features ship to customers in a few months.
Developers use Apple’s App Intents system to bring app content and actions into Siri AI. A new feature called skills lets an app combine several actions into one experience. Apple gives examples such as checking a delivery, booking a reservation or placing an order. The Verge reports that people may not need to say an app’s name when it is already in the foreground, has a Live Activity running, or is part of a conversation with Siri AI. Apple’s example is asking Siri to change the pickup address for a ride already being tracked in an app.
What can Siri do with Apple’s apps?
Apple is also adding these capabilities to its own apps, including Calendar, Files, Finder, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Safari and Weather. A person could ask Siri to find a coffee shop they visited the previous week or archive files that have not been opened in more than a year. Apple says users can ask Siri what it can do inside each app.
Apple says Siri AI can also surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, rather than only items that fit an existing schema. That could make more kinds of app information available to Siri, though the company has not listed every action developers can build.
Who can try it?
This is a developer preview, not a general release of third-party app features. Apple says developers can explore and test now, with App Store submissions for these experiences opening in spring. The company says Siri AI requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device and a supported language; listed languages include English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Some features may vary by region and language, and Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU in iOS, iPadOS and watchOS.
Apple has not yet shared the terms and usage policies for experiences built with Siri AI. Its announcement says those details will follow.
Why it matters
For people using supported Apple devices, this could mean asking Siri to complete tasks inside participating third-party apps without spelling out every step. But the feature is still in a developer preview, and which apps will support it—and the terms governing those integrations—remain unsettled.
