A team of 30 authors introduced GUIDE, an AI‑assisted system for creating and updating clinical practice guidelines. In tests on 12 NICE eye‑care datasets, it recalled 88.9% of relevant papers and agreed with human recommendations 91.7% of the time, while experts only handled about 29% of the work. The system also performed similarly on 20 other medical areas and on six new datasets after the literature cutoff.
Why it matters
If adopted, GUIDE could let doctors and guideline panels refresh treatment recommendations much more quickly, keeping care aligned with the latest evidence.
