llama.cpp update fixes rare quantization crash

The Oct 3 2026 release adds checks to prevent invalid rounding errors that could crash debugging builds.

NoteBy Published by Oossa: 1 min read

The llama.cpp library released version b11366 on Oct 3 2026. It fixes a bug where the quantization scale search could produce infinite or NaN values, causing an assertion failure in Debug builds. The fix clamps the quantization level to a safe range before rounding. Regression tests were added for several quant types. The change applies across all supported platforms, from macOS to Windows and Linux.

Why it matters

Developers using llama.cpp will see fewer crashes when debugging quantized models, improving stability during development.
