Meta adds private processing to its AI glasses

Meta says its AI glasses will run sensitive workloads in confidential virtual machines, but the feature isn’t available yet.

Meta announced that its AI glasses will now use Private Processing, a system that runs AI models inside confidential virtual machines (CVMs) backed by hardware TEEs. The CVMs keep personal context and data encrypted while the glasses stream transcription, do contextual search, and store long‑term memory. The company says the cloud‑based boundary protects the data from Meta’s own staff. Engineers have built the system, but Meta has not given a rollout date and says it is still not deployed on any glasses.

Why it matters

If released, the glasses could offer richer, personalized assistance without exposing user data to the company.
