Reflection’s Beam model comes to AWS SageMaker and Trainium3

AWS says businesses can deploy Reflection’s Apache 2.0-licensed open-weight model in their own AWS accounts, initially in two US regions.

AWS has made Beam, Reflection’s first open-weight model, available through Amazon SageMaker JumpStart. The model is initially offered in US East (N. Virginia) and US East (Ohio), and Reflection says it is designed for reasoning, coding and agent-style tasks.

AWS says Beam was optimized for Trainium3 and can be adapted and deployed in customers’ own AWS accounts. The Apache 2.0 license allows customers to inspect and customize the model; AWS does not provide benchmark results or pricing in the announcement.

Why it matters

Engineering teams using SageMaker in those regions can try a model they can inspect and customize within their AWS environment, but the announcement gives no pricing or benchmark figures to assess its cost or performance.
