Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio announced two new ways to link data sources. First, it can connect to external Apache Iceberg catalogs via the Iceberg REST specification, supporting Snowflake Open Catalog, Databricks Unity Catalog and generic IRC types. Second, it now authenticates to Amazon DocumentDB using IAM roles, removing the need to store usernames or passwords. Both features work across all regions where Studio is offered and cost nothing extra.
