Amazon announced that Aurora serverless can now increase its capacity by up to 16 ACUs (Aurora Capacity Units) within a second and keep scaling up to 256 ACUs as demand grows. The change is on by default for clusters on platform version 3 or 4, and older clusters can upgrade to version 4 to get the benefit. The service still scales back to zero when idle, so you only pay for what you use.
