Amazon Web Services announced that its Bedrock AgentCore service now includes Runtime Instances, a managed EC2 option for long‑running, multi‑agent AI workflows. Unlike the serverless MicroVMs that cap sessions at 8 hours, Runtime Instances allow sessions up to 14 days, provide GPU access, and support persistent EBS volumes. This lets several agents share a single GPU instance and a shared filesystem for tasks such as a three‑agent music production pipeline.
The new compute option uses the same AgentCore APIs, but adds multi‑day persistence, colocation of agents, and the ability to run container images or S3‑based code together on the same instance.
Why it matters
It lets developers build more complex, collaborative AI systems that can run for days and use GPUs without managing their own servers.
