Epic Games announced it is moving to an “AI‑first” approach for its $1.5 billion Disney collaboration. The company says AI models such as Anthropic’s Claude will write the code and generate the artwork, while human staff supervise the output. The shift has pushed the planned Marvel‑ and Star Wars‑themed shooter, originally set for March 2027, into an indefinite delay. Epic’s Tim Sweeney said the move is meant to let developers build more and better stuff with AI.
Why it matters
If the AI workflow works, Epic could cut development time and cost on future games, affecting studios that rely on Unreal Engine.
