Modulate raises $25 million for voice analysis tools

Modulate has raised $25 million to develop its voice analysis platform, which businesses use to transcribe calls, assess what callers mean, detect deepfakes and check whether voice agents follow rules. Future Ventures led the round, with Hyperplane and Lakestar also taking part.
The Boston company says it runs more than 100 small models that analyze features such as tone, emotion and whether a voice is synthetic. Its tools are used by call centers and other organizations to flag possible scams and review customer-service calls. Modulate says it is working to expand on-premises and on-device options, which could help customers keep voice data more private.
Why it matters
As companies use more voice agents, tools that can spot scams and assess whether those agents handled a call well may help them monitor customer service and compliance.
