Anthropic’s draft prospectus filed with the SEC shows the company is building a sticky ecosystem around its Claude AI platform. Over 50% of customers spending at least $100,000 a year now use Claude together with a first‑party app such as Claude Code or Cowork, up from about 30% at the end of last year. The filing says this cross‑product use helped lift net revenue retention to roughly 900% by the end of Q3.
As of September 30, Anthropic listed more than 11,900 customers paying at least $100,000 annually, more than 1,900 paying $1 million or more, and about 250 paying $10 million or more each year. The company attributes the growth to “significant usage expansion” as enterprises deploy Claude across multiple functions.
How the ecosystem works
Anthropic’s approach mirrors the playbooks of Amazon Web Services and Uber. A business can start with the Claude API, then add Claude Code for developers and later roll out Cowork to a broader workforce. Users of Claude Code spend about 20 times more per month than average enterprise users who don’t use the coding tool, according to the filing.
The firm also runs internal Applied AI teams that help customers embed Claude in their existing tech stacks. A new venture with Blackstone, called Ode with Anthropic, places engineers inside client companies to build custom AI tools. Anthropic sells through AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure but keeps the direct contract with the customer, paying the cloud providers a fee to avoid channel conflict.
Risks ahead
Despite revenue jumping to $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026 from $1.2 billion a year earlier, the filing warns that cloud partners could become competitors for compute resources. It also flags customer concentration, noting that a loss of a large client could hurt the business.
Why it matters
Enterprises that adopt Claude across multiple tools become much more valuable to Anthropic, which could keep pricing stable but also make it harder for customers to switch providers. For businesses, the strategy means more integrated AI features but also a reliance on Anthropic’s continued access to cloud compute.
