Capcom says it will add AI tools to its RE Engine

At the RE:2026 conference, Capcom outlined a plan to slowly turn its RE Engine into an AI‑assisted development platform.

Capcom announced at its RE:2026 Open Conference that it will gradually integrate artificial‑intelligence tools into its RE Engine. Programmer Satoshi Ishida presented a roadmap titled “The Outlook and Future of the REX Project, Further Evolving the RE Engine for the Next Generation.” The company said it will not use AI‑generated art in released games, but will use AI to speed up internal development tasks.

Game developers at Capcom hope AI will cut the labor‑intensive work needed to produce large titles like Resident Evil.
